About PeopleOps Guide
Most companies with fewer than a few hundred people don’t have a full HR team. The founder, an operations manager, or an office manager ends up writing the offer letters, the leave policy, and the performance review form, usually late in the evening and usually from scratch.
PeopleOps Guide exists to make that work faster and less risky. We publish three kinds of pages:
- Templates and sample policies you can copy and adapt, with notes on what to change for your team and location.
- Guides that explain HR topics in plain English, with official sources for anything legal.
- Software comparisons that rank HR, payroll, and recruiting tools on a published scoring method.
Who we write for
Founders, operations leads, and first HR hires at companies with roughly 5 to 500 employees, mainly in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. When a rule differs by country, we say which country a statement applies to.
Who we are
PeopleOps Guide is an independent publication. It is not owned by, and does not sell, any HR software. Articles are published under the PeopleOps Guide Editorial Team byline. You can read exactly how pages are researched, written, and checked on our editorial process page, and how the site earns money on our disclosure page.
